The Democratic Alliance on Monday wrote to Public Protector Thuli Madonsela requesting her office to investigate the launch into the R1.6 million National Youth Service Corps training programme.

It has been reported that the funds were allegedly not used for actual teaching to the 14 500 young people who were part of the programme.

DA MP of Rural Development and Land Reform Mpowele Swathe called on the Public Protector to go out and really find out what happened to the money.

Swathe added that the DA is very much concerned about the report that they have received with regards to the usage of this money and the Public Protector need to find out who were the benefactors of this money because according to the report it was never used for the programme that it was aimed for.
