Western Cape police arrested a 33-year-old man through Operation Combat after he was found in his home with a drug lab producing mandrax tablets in Plumstead.

Police Spokesperson Andre Traut said over 6 000 tablets were found and police suspect that the suspect has been operating the lab for a few years.

Traut said shortly after police made the discovery in Plumstead a house in Landsdowne was searched and a press machine was found.

“The suspect is due to appear court once he has been charged” Traut added.
