The National Institute for Crime
Prevention and the Rehabilitation of Offenders said it is working hard at
changing the face of crime in the country.
Nicro’s Spokesperson Jacques
Sibomana said as crime continues to escalate the quality of life of all
citizens’ declines significantly and communities become battlefields.
Sibomana said we do believe the community and the
public as a whole needs to take seriously the rise of the juvenile crimes
that are taking places in our communities where offenders are becoming younger and
younger each day.
"This is one of
the reasons why Nicro took an initiative to launch a program that is
specifically targeting young people in high schools. The program will educate the kids and equip them with the necessary tools, that can be used
with each other using the peer education system" Sibomana added.
Nicro’s Sibomana said the programme will encourage them to stay away
from the life of crime and also give them available opportunities that are out there.
