One died, three injured in lightening strike in Bloemfontien

ER24 paramedics responded to the camp site near Tierpoort dam in Bloemfontein late last night, whereby one lost his life and three others injured when they were struck by lightning.

Paramedics Spokesperson Russel Meiring said upon their arrival they found four young adults lying on the ground.

''Paramedics discovered one of the patients had been fatally wounded while the other three had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical, including severe burns. Meiring'' said.

 

Meiring added that paramedics immediately began their treatment of the patients, placing them on spine boards before transporting two patients to nearby hospital for further treatment.

Other medical services transported the remainder of the patients.

Local authorities were on scene for investigations.
