ER24 paramedics rushed to Inanda dam in KwaZulu Natal yesterday whereby three people drowned. Paramedics Spokesperson Russel Meiring said they were called to the scene to assist in the rescue operation.

“Upon their arrival, paramedics and rescue teams attempted to save the victims but were unsuccessful due to the location of the victims. Rescue teams as well as SAPS were on scene to later retrieve the bodies of the victims,” Meiring said.

Meiring added that witnesses on scene stated that the three men had been fishing on the dam wall when one of the men had apparently slipped and fell in.

He also said the remaining two men jumped in one after the other to aid their friend, but soon succumbed to fatigue and the suction of the dam wall.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
