The Western Cape Government through
the Premier’s Advancement for Youth Project is expected to invest R27 million
in work experience for matriculants.
Western Cape MEC of Finance,
Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde said 776 interns will start their
one-year internship on Monday and this is a great opportunity for the young
people to obtain the on-the-job experience.
“During the year I said to all of them
today that they must make maximum use of this opportunity and we hope a number
of them will want to work in government.” Winde added.
MEC Winde said they will use these
skills that they get during this intern year to help them decide on their
career choices going forward and also make them more employable than they were
at the start of the program.
