The George Organised Crime Investigation Unit is seeking the assistance of the public in a cash-in-transit incident that took place on Tuesday at a shopping centre in Wildernis.

Police said a security company was busy collecting cash from one of the shops and two security members were walking back towards the stationed vehicle with the cashbox when the incident occurred.

Captain Bernadine Steyn said four men approached the security members on foot. Two of the suspects had firearms. The suspects took a container with several bags containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

Steyn added that the men fled in a green Fiat Uno and a blue BMW. Nobody sustained any injuries during the incident.  Anyone with information is requested to contact the investigating officer constable Jan Koopman on 044 802 1600.
