The Marikana Support Campaign in a
statement on Monday said the decision on whether the SAPS will be allowed to
maintain the anonymity of their witness known simply as Mr X will be taken by
Judge Farlam this week.
It is believed that Mr X will give
evidence that the strikers planned to attack the police on the fateful day of
the 16th.
The Farlam Commission is
investigating the deaths of 34 miners at the hands of police in 2012.
Campaign Spokesperson Rehad Desai
said what we know about Mr X is that he is in state witness protection program.
He is also a known murderer guilty of three murders according to his own
confession.
“He has entered state witness
protection program in order to receive immunity we are not sure of what else he
is receiving but we know from the state witness program that he is being paid
and free maybe roaming around in his own village,” Desai added.
