Police seek armed robbery suspects

Eastern Cape police are searching for suspects who were involved in an armed robbery which happened on Tuesday night in Tsolo. 

Police were following up on information on a business robbery and when they started searching for the suspects they were attacked by four gunmen.  One police officer was shot dead during the attack. 

Police Spokesperson Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said 45 year old warrant officer Mpendulo Mbasane, was shot and killed by robbers that entered Boxer Save superstore on Monday late.

Fatyela added that after police gave chase there was an exchange of gunfire.   One suspect was shot and killed.  Police also recovered a 9mm pistol, two magazines and two cell phones.
