An accident on Umdloti link road this morning has left four people injured of which three of them are fighting for their lives in hospital.

It is believed that the pedestrians were walking along the pavement when a vehicle lost control and veered off the road and resulted to collide with them, leaving them critically injured.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said three of the people were in very critical condition and a ventilator had to be used.

Botha said they were treated on scene before being transported to various hospitals for further care.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
