The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said it is concerned by some disturbing occurrences which include murder and destruction of property during the wage strikes in the Platinum Belt.

IPID’s Moses Dlamini said while the right to strike is enshrined in our Constitution, such expression should be done within the framework of the law.

Dlamini said as the IPID we will watch the situation closely and we do not wish to see any infringement of anybody’s rights by any party.

Dlamini emphasised that police should not be put in a position where they have to act against individuals who break the law and then cry foul afterwards.

“As the IPID we remain committed to conducting independent and impartial investigation in line with our legislation mandate” Dlamini added.
