Two collisions near Shongweni leaves two people dead

An accident this morning on the N3 Durban bound near Shongweni left one person dead and three people injured.  . 

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics arrived at the scene and found the Durban lane to be severely obstructed by the accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. The man died on the scene and the injured sustained serious injuries.  

In another accident also on the N3 in Durban near the Shongweni Bridge, two trucks collided into each other leaving one person dead.  When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the two large trucks down the embankment.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said the driver of one truck was killed and two other people were injured in that accident. Advanced life support was performed on the two injured patients before they were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
