The National Sea Rescue Institute in Hermanus on
Sunday were activated following the reports of a man who was swept off rocks in
front of the beach.
NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said NSRI together
with the South African Police Services started with the search on Sunday but
there was no sign of the man, and the rescue mission had to be called off until
Monday.
Lambinon said the missing man is a 68 year-old
photographer.
“It appears he was taking photographs from a rocks
when he was swept off by waves and according to his friend he disappeared
almost immediately.” Lambinon added.
