A taxi that overturned on the Mangasuthu Highway in Umlazi left seventeen people injured with one left critically injured.

It is believed that the driver of the taxi lost control and veered off the road.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said when they arrived there they found people scattered over a very large area.  Seventeen people were injured and one female sustained very critical injuries.

Botha said all the injured were stabilized on scene before they were transported to a local hospital for the further medical care that they all required.
