The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape said parents should protect and nurture their children and ensure that they live in a protected environment.

This follows the arrest of a woman who allegedly prostituted her daughter several times between 2011 and 2012 in Atlantis.

The mother appeared in court on Tuesday and faces four counts of trafficking in persons for sexual purposes.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said this mother sexually exploited her daughter and must face the full extent of the law. We are calling the mother to remain in custody and should not qualify for parole and should spend a long time in prison.
