Western Cape MEC of community Safety Dan Plato said more needs to be done to help local traders who fall victim to increased crime, drug and gangsterism activities.

MEC Plato on Monday conducted a safety walkabout in Mitchell’s Plain Centre where local traders expressed their concerns about selling of drugs and gangsterism hindering them selling their goods.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said the MEC is concerned about the issue and hopefully the issue will be discussed with other authorities and a solution might come out there.

The findings that came out from the walkabout today will be handed over to the Premier and then a decision will be taken from there.
