President Jacob Zuma while announcing his new National Executive in May said that some departments will be reconfigured and others have been expanded to improve capacity.

President Zuma in a statement said the affected departments have been directed to study the legal and administrative implications of the policy announcement made by the President.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said the process will culminate in a proclamation that will, amongst others, establish the new departments, transfer the administration of certain legislation from one Minister to another or transfer certain functions, agencies or institutions from one Department to another.

“Once this process is concluded, the President will make the final pronouncement on the new government system.” Mamoepa added.
