Western Cape Department of Health welcomes the decentralization of TB sites

The Western Cape Department of Health has welcomed the announcement by the National Health Department regarding the increase of decentralisation sites which are providing drug resistant TB treatment. 

MEC of Health Thenus Botha said the provincial government has revised its DR TB treatment plan. 

The province has the third highest number of new TB infections in the country after KwaZulu Natal. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Helene Rossouw said last week at the SA national TB conference in Durban the national health minister announced that government would increase the number of decentralisation side for TB treatment 

“But the Western Cape Government has supported this decentralisation since 2010 and we welcome the announcement.” Rossouw added.
