Competition Commission refers construction firm cases to the Tribunal

The Competition Commission has referred cases relating to the contracts to build and revamp stadiums for the 2010 World Cup to the Competition Tribunal of South Africa. 

The commission says many constriction firms were implicated however some have refused to settle. 

The WBHO construction, Group Five, Murray & Roberts Holdings, Stefanutti Stocks Multidisciplinary Construction Group and Basil Read are all being referred to the tribunal.

Competition Commission Spokesperson Mava Scott said this is respect of firms that did not settle the stadium case as part of the fast track settlement project phase one.

Scott said these firms were implicated by other firms but they are refusing to settle and we are no prosecuting the case with the tribunal.
