Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has assured the country that government will make sure that the eleven remains of South Africans who were involved in the church building tragedy in Nigeria will be bought home.

The remains of 74 people arrived in the country on Sunday and a memorial service was held at the WaterKloof air base in Pretoria.

Government says the remains of the eleven still need to be positively identified which could take some time.

Ramaphosa said to the bereaved it is our hope that you will draw inspiration, comfort and solace from the knowledge that this entire country shares and your bereavement.

"We will intensify our efforts to ensure that the remains of those, who are still in Nigeria are brought home without undue delay,” Ramaphosa added.
