Two people died in Pretoria after inhaling exhaust fumes from a generator.

It is believed that a mother, grandmother and a four-month old baby were in a room with a generator running, and the house owners found the unconscious people.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics arrived at the facility and assisted doctors to resuscitate the 4-month-old baby.

Botha said tragically the baby and the grandmother died on the scene. The mother was resuscitated and then transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact details to the cause of the incident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
