ACDP concerned over latest sexual offences report

The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape said it is concerned by the latest sexual crime report that half of sexual offences occur within the home.

African Conference on Sexual and gender Based Violence released statistics which shows that 25.1% of sexual offences are steered by the victim’s relative and 34% of these perpetrators live amongst our communities.

ACDP Ferlon Christians said victims often withdraw protection orders after reporting an initial crime as the perpetrator is often the breadwinner of the home.

Christians said we live in a society where heads of the house-hold are the chief architects of the evil that lurks within families.

Christians said the future of our woman, for the hope of our nation, we as men must take a stand for a centuries of abuse that has been perpetuated against woman.

“We urge woman to decide that their right to being free from abuse supersedes their fear of the one who is abusing them Christians added.
