A shack fire in Phillippi East
earlier today left two children both aged two-year old dead and their mother
sustained burn wounds.
Cape Town Fire spokesperson
Theo Layne said the cause of the fire is being investigated by police.
Meanwhile another fire in
Kosovo informal settlement left at least 120 people homeless.
Layne said in the early hours
of this morning, they had responded to Kosovo informal settlement where they
had 60-80 shacks that have burnt.
Layne said it left one adult
male dead and then in a separate incident in Philippi East we had two young
girls that had died as a result of one shack that had burnt.
“The causes of the two blazes
are unknown at this stage as police are conducting an investigation into these
two matters Layne added.
