The final Provincial Policing Needs and Priorities
consultation process meeting will be held in Gugulethu later today.
Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato has
been hosting these meetings across the country to engage with the communities
on their safety concerns.
The information gathered will be handed over to the
National Minister of Police Nathi Nhleko for consideration when he does the
police budget for the province.
Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said this meeting
will get the suburbs of Athlone, Gugulethu, Landsdowne, Manenberg, Nyanga,
Philippi and Philippi East, the opportunity to identify, discuss and confirm
the specific policing needs and priorities.
“This is the last public meeting as part of the consultation
process which has spanned over a five month consultation process across the
province.” Botha added.
