The Golden Arrow Bus Service
has announced that it will be increasing its passenger fares as from the 29th
of December 2014.
Passenger fares will increase
by an average of 7.2%. In a statement the service said a number of cost factors
including the nationally determined wage increase of 9.5% and a shortfall in
subsidy impacted negatively and a revision of fares was necessary.
Golden Arrow Bus Service
Spokesperson Bronwen Dyke said to put the fare increase into perspective, the
price of a trip between Khayelitsha and Cape Town will increase by just 73
cents from R10.00 to R10.73 in the case of a monthly clipcard.
“The company believes that
this per trip increase remains within the parameters of reasonable
affordability Dyke added.
