Huge amount of ammunition found hidden at a house in Rocklands/Mitchells Plain

A 35 year old man was arrested in Mitchell’s Plain after police found 248 illegal live rounds ammunition at a house in Rocklands.

The Mitchell’s Plain police management urged the community to remain vigilant and contact their respective sector commanders with information.

Captain FC van Wyk said upon our arrival we searched one of the bedrooms and they discovered a R5 magazine filled with 18 live R5 rounds.

FC van Wyk said upon a further search of the premises they discovered, hidden in the ceiling of the house, 82 calibre live rounds and 148 live R5 rounds.

FC van Wyk said in total 166 high calibre R5 rounds and 82 rounds were found.

FC van Wyk said the suspect will appear soon in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ Court on the related charge.
