A man died this morning after being hit by a train at the Ysterplaat train station, causing delays of between 20 to 30 minutes.
The exact details to the cause
of the accident is being investigated by police.

Meiring said ER24 paramedics, as well as other services, arrived on scene and
found the patient lying on the track in a serious condition.
Meiring said the man had
sustained severe injuries to both his legs and injuries to his chest.
Meiring said Paramedics began
their assessment, providing the patient with advanced life support to stabilize
his weakening vital signs.
Meiring said unfortunately,
after a 20 resuscitation, the patient was declared dead.
“The cause of the incident is
not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations Meiring
added.
Meanwhile in a another
incident two men sustained burn wounds after a fire broke out under a petrol
tanker at a plant in Primrose Park, in the Western Cape.
It is believed that the two
men were filling a tank when a small explosion started resulting in a fire.

Meiring said Paramedics found two men sitting in chairs in a nearby office
crowded by fellow workers. Both men has sustained serious burn wounds to their
heads and chests.
Meiring said Paramedics
treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to
Vincent Palloti Hospital fur further medical treatment.
Meiring said it is believed
both men were filling a tank when there was a small explosion which caused the
fire.
“Local authorities were on
scene for further investigations Meiring added.
