NSRI : Fisherman dies and missing 12 year old body found

The National Sea Rescue Institute attended to an incident onboard a fishing boat at St Francis whereby a 37-year-old fisherman was suffering from breathing difficulties.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the man died after it appeared that he had suffered a heart attack. 

Lambinon said we launched SPIRIT OF ST FRANCIS II and rendezvoused with the Chokka boat 1 nautical mile off-shore.

NSRI medics were transferred aboard the Chokka boat where they found the patient to be breathless and pulseless and CPR efforts were commenced.

In rough seas the decision was made to leave the patient onboard the Chokka boat which headed into Port while NSRI medics continued CPR onboard and once in Port Private Care paramedics took over CPR efforts but after all efforts to resuscitate the man were exhausted he was declared deceased by paramedics.

Meanwhile the 12-year-old girl who went missing at Seekoei River lagoon in Jeffreys Bay following an extensive search this morning. 

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the family of the victim has been notified. 

Lambinon said during an ongoing search operation at Seekoei River Lagoon, Jeffreys Bay, the body of a 12 year old girl, from Humansdorp was located and recovered by Police divers during a scuba dive search.

 
Lambinon said Police divers had joined NSRI Jeffrey’s Bay, who had initiated an ongoing search and the body of the girl was discovered by Police diver’s scuba dive searching in the vicinity where the child had disappeared by midday.

 
Lambinon said the body of the child has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.

 
“Family of the deceased child are being counselled by Police trauma counsellors and sincere condolences are expressed to the family Lambinon added.
