The National Union of Mineworkers of South Africa said its members at the Glencore Koornfontein Mine are still on strike.

The members are striking for a decent retrenchment packages.

24 workers were in July this year served with retrenchment notices and retrenchment payment as per the Basic Condition of Employment.

NUM’s Stanley Lebelo said we have differences in terms of payment formula for payment packages for our members.

Lebelo said we urge the company to meet us half way for a settlement agreement.

“However we are still in discussions with the company at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, but we are still on strike” Lebelo added.
