A man died and
two others were seriously injured yesterday after a head-on collision between a
SUV and a light motor vehicle on the N9 near George.
ER24 Spokesperson
Russel Meiring said on arrival on scene, paramedics discovered the two vehicles
pushed together on the side of the road. The light motor vehicle had been
pushed up against the embankment and had sustained severe damage.
Meiring added
that they surveyed the scene and discovered a male patient lying trapped behind
the steering wheel of the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately the man had
already succumbed to his severe injuries.
“Two occupants
from the SUV were found sitting next to their vehicle. Both patients were found
to have sustained moderate injuries. The patients were treated for their
injuries and thereafter transported them to nearby hospital for further
treatment.” Meiring said
The exact details
of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
