SACP welcomes safety checks on long distance buses

Lusanda Bill

The South African Communist Party in the Western Cape has called on the Provincial Department of Transport to conduct regular safety check-up at the Joe Gqabi long distance bus station.

The department has been conducting road safety and roadworthy check up on all vehicles travelling long distances outside the province since the start of the festive season.

SACP Provincial Spokesperson Masonwabe Sokoyi said we believe that bus owners do not service their buses to ensure they are roadworthy and safe for passengers, which is very dangerous.

Sokoyi said we further urge the department to add more personals to ensure that the testing is done more quickly.
