A man dies after being knocked by a motor vehicle

An accident this morning on the R82 near the M1 in Southgate left one person dead.

It is believed that the man was knocked over by a motor vehicle while he was trying to cross the road.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann said when paramedics arrived at the scene, they found a man who is believed to be in his thirties laying down on the road.

Steinmann said he man was allegedly knocked over by a car after he was trying to cross the road and he died on the scene.

“The exact details of the accident will remain a subject of a police investigation Steinmann added.
