56-year-old man found dead on the sea

A 56-year-old man died after he drowned after being swept out to sea at Glenmore Beach, north of Port Edward.

According to eye-witness reports the victim identified as Ricardo Da Natta-Frizado was caught in a rip current while swimming, before being washed towards the beach by waves where municipal beach workers managed to get the man onto the beach.

National Sea Rescue Institute Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says “On arrival on scene they found a 56-year-old man on the beach, already he has been rescued from the water by the municipal beach workers.

CPR was commenced joined by Netcare 911 paramedics. Despite extensive efforts by CPR the man was declared deceased on scene. Police have opened an inquest docet", Lambinon added.
