A Belgian man died in flash flood while kloofing

A 29-year-old man from Belgium died after he was swept down the Salt River in Plettenberg Bay Mountain.

National Sea Rescue Institute Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the man went missing after a group of about seven people on a canyoning expedition were caught by a flash flood. 

“The NSRI Plettenberg Bay, Police, Red Cross AMS Skymed rescue helicopter searched for the man. During the search his body was located and recovered and handed in to the care of Forensic Pathology Services.”  Lambinon added.

He also said that the Belgium Consulate are assisting with family care abroad.
