A couple has been arrested in Port Elizabeth for possessing and distributing child pornography.

The arrest came through the help of the United States of America’s Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The police have also established a task team to look into child pornography which has recorded a number of successes recently.

Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale said during an operation that was conducted between the SAPS, the Belgian police and with the assistance of the United States of America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation, the team, while searching the couple’s residence in Port Elizabeth, found 15 hard drives, two cellular phones, 124 compact discs, two USBs, two cameras and one micro SD card.

Makgale said the couple, a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, already appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on 17 March 2015 and were granted R5 000,00 bail each.

“They have been warned to reappear in the same court on 24 April 2015” Makgale added.
