Commission for Gender Equality to highlight challenges of human rights and gender equality

The Commission for Gender Equality said Human Rights Day is about looking back at the gains and challenges that have been achieved in the past twenty years of human rights and gender equality.

As today is Human Rights Day the commission says this year marks a significant mark in terms of human rights and gender equality in the country.

The commission’s Javu Baloyi said it is the because of the moving away from millennium development goals to sustainable development goals and also SADC gender on protocol, and also what they are doing as the Commission for Gender Equality in advancing the work of gender  human rights.

Baloyi added that "We believe as the commission because this year has been declared a ticket for African women it is a significant milestone and it means that issues of gender and human rights will be taken into recognition."
