The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa in Guateng said the burning of the clinic in Tembisa during protest does nothing to solve the problem at hand.

This follows protest action which happened on Tuesday whereby angry residents burnt down a clinic and looted shops after illegally connected electricity was cut off.

Thirty-six people were arrested in the process for public violence.

Denosa Chairperson in Gauteng Simphiwe Gada said they feel that the burning of the clinic disregards the rights of other citizens to access to healthcare.

Gada said it’s not something that communities should take lightly as this is something we condemn in the strongest possible terms.

Gada said the people responsible for these acts of public violence we call on law enforcement to arrests them and face the full might of the law.

“The issue of health should not be something that people should take for granted but rather respected” Gada added.
