Hawks senior member arrested for fraud and corruption

A 53 year old Hawks senior officer have been arrested following allegations of fraud and corruption.
It is alleged that he solicited a bribe, after he was approached to assist in a case of a person who went missing in 2008.

Hawks Spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said since the case was opened in 2008 nothing has happened, they then decided to open the case which they now can confirm that they have taken over the case, which led to the arrest of the senior member.

Mulaudzi said he allegedly demanded a R40 000 bribe, which would be used to assist his ailing wife at the time.

The senior member is expected to appear in the Durban Commercial Crime Court on charges of fraud and corruption.
