Western Cape MEC of Health Nomafrench Mbombo together with MEC of Transport and Public Works Donald Grant will today embark on a TB awareness campaign at the Cape Town station.
The two MEC’s will conduct a walkabout as World TB will be tomorrow and the national theme is “Ending South Africa’s TB epidemic: Accelerating our response in key populations”.

Ministerial Spokesperson Siviwe Gwarube said the idea behind the campaign is to encourage public transport users to open windows and allow for sufficient ventilation where possible.

Mbombo added that our research has shown that an airborne diseases like TB has the less chance of spreading where there is proper ventilation and the Minsters will be speaking about where, in which, they can start preventing the spread of TB, as to opposed to focusing more on the curative side of TB.
