The National Union of Mineworkers said Eskom Board Chairperson Zola Tsotsi must be removed as he is interfering in operational matters.

NUM General Secretary Frans Baleni said the NUM is calling for a resignation of Eskom Chairperson Zola Tsotsi, given his contribution to the collapse of governance.

“He is the source of conflict and collapse of governance,” Baleni added.

Tsotsi was in charge of an inquiry which was first announced earlier this month and was preceded by the suspension of four Eskom executives, including CEO Tshediso Matona.

In a statement NUM warned that the state of corporate governance was degenerating at Eskom.
