Three suspects arrested and two shot dead in KwaZulu Natal

Three suspects aged between 24 and 28-years-old have been arrested and two shot dead following a shootout between police in Newland East, KwaZulu Natal.

It is believed that police tried to stop a suspicious looking vehicle but then occupants jumped out and allegedly shot at the police members.

The three suspects have been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and will appear in court soon.

Major Thulani Zwane says it is alleged that some of these occupants jumped out of their car and fired shot to the members.

The members reiterated as a result one member was shot and killed. The members managed to arrest three suspects.

The fetch them and found an AK47 as well as a 9ml pistol, both these firearms were unlicensed, Zwane added.
