Police in George are cracking down on possession and usage of illegal firearms in the area.

Two suspects aged 36 and 26-years-old were arrested in Thembalethu for being in possession of several firearms and rounds ammunitions.

In the second incident a 30-year-old man was arrested in Lawaaikamp following a tip-off about illegal dealings taking place on a premises in Conville.

Captain Malcolm Pojie says we confiscated two pistols as well as a small amount of ammunition. In both instances the firearms were found in the bedrooms of the suspects.

Poji said the firearms will be sent to our laboratory to be tested and to determine whether it could have been used in any illegal activities.
