The Congress of South African Trade Union in the North West said it is worried at the state of municipalities of Ventersdorp and Ngaka Modire Molema.

Cosatu has called on the African National Congress government to take over the Ventersdorp Municipality and that proper investigation regarding alleged corruption should be done urgently.

Cosatu Provincial Secretary Solly Phetoe said what worries them is that every week workers are on streets going out on an unprotected strike provoked by the councillors.

Phetoe added that in the municipality of Ventersdorp works have not been given protected clothes.

“Workers have complained about the way they have been treated by the ANC councillors and officials who are appointed on the basis of factions. some of those senior Directors have no qualifications, they have been treating workers very badly and they are the worst corrupt people.” Phetoe said.
