The Democratic Alliance has written to the
chairperson of the portfolio committee for Sports and Recreation requesting
that the committee chair institute a Parliamentary inquiry into allegations of
political interference in the Proteas team selection for their Cricket World
Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

Malatsi says “I have this morning written to the chairperson of parliamentary
committee on Sports and Recreation Beauty Dlulane.
"I have then requesting that she institutes a
parliamentary inquiry into allegations of political interference in the Proteas
match selection in their match in the Cricket World Cup," Malatsi added.
He concluded by saying that a parliamentary inquiry is the best intervention to
clear the dark cloud hanging over this matter which has serious implications
for the true independence of national sports team,
