The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape has raised its concerns regarding the thousands of children stuck in the foster care system.

ACDP claims that there are still 28 657 children still in foster care.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christian said that though parents have the right not to sign away their rights, the best interest of the child in question should always be considered first.

“As the ACDP, we believe in strong family support system and the interests of children is of paramount important, that’s why we say the children have a right to grow up in a home where they are loved and nurtured.”  Christians added.
