27-year-old sentenced to life imprisonment for rape

A 27-year-old has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping an 8-year-old girl in Twelling, Bloemfontein.

Constable Peter Kareli explained that a group of children were playing on the street at Twelling that is when the 27-year-old called all of them saying he wants to send them to go and buy something from the shop.

Kareli said the suspect demanded that one of the children which is the 8-year-old girl to stay behind as he also wants to send her somewhere. Immediately after the children went away that is when he started touching the child until he raped her.

“After he released her the child went straight to inform her grandmother of what happened and the grandmother reported the matter to the police” Kareli added.
