The African National Congress in the Western Cape has welcomed Operation Fiela in the province.

The operation targeted Manenberg early this morning with over 300 police officers and 4 people were arrested and several firearms confiscated.

Operation Fiela was introduced by government following the xenophobic attacks in the country to crack down on crime.

Over 1 600 people have been arrested since the operation started.

ANC’s Cobus Grobler said the City of Cape Town’s Metro police seems to be unable to assist in that level and the Western Cape government is doing nothing, therefore the ANC cares about people’s lives and really got into bringing stability into these areas.
