The Democratic Alliance has raised its concerns regarding the short of essential drug stock in several hospitals and clinics across the country.

In a statement the DA alleges that essential drug stock-outs are at a crisis level due to shortages of certain pharmaceutical ingredients necessary to treat HIV-positive individuals.

The stock shortage include medication amongst others blood pressure, ARV’s bipolar disorder and TB medication.

DA MP of Health Wilmot James said we call on the Minister Aaron Motsaeledi to come and explain what has happen. This is clearly a problem as a result of spate in action.

“He must come and explain to the portfolio committee why it is we are facing another backlog of medicine shortages and stock out so that we can find a solution to the problem and it seems to me that the solution is obvious, the provincial departments must pay their bills on time so that we have a proper flow of medicine.” James added.
