A manhunt has been launched by the Hawks for a 33-year-old man who is suspected of killing a police constable in Mpumalanga.

35-year-old Constable Joseph Baloyi was shot and killed while driving into his house earlier this week.

The suspect Mthobisi Ngwenyama is also facing charges including attempted murder and house robbery.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said currently there is a team that is searching for the suspect and as such we have not had any successes as yet.

Mulaudzi said what is critical is that we will not allow a situation where our members would be shot at and as such we would just sit down and fold our hands. So hence we are doing everything in our power to make sure that we bring the suspect to book as soon as possible.
