A suspect was arrested on the N2 after he tried to rob a Metro Police Officer during a bait operation on Wednesday.
Motorists are being attacked
with stones being thrown at their vehicles and sharp objects placed on the
road.
Some are being robbed as they
find themselves stranded on the N2.
Mayoral Committee Member for
Safety and Security JP Smith said they are at the bate car on the road with a
female Metro Police officer simulating a road side distressed to attackers were
responded to it, crapped up on the vehicle and attempting to attack the
occupant.
Smith added that one managed
to escape but the other person was arrested in his possession he had a knife
and a toy fun and he has been charged at Khayelitsha SAPS.
“We are hoping that this
operation and future operation will help the SAPS who is the lead agency on
dealing with the N2 strengthening attacks against the apprehended.” Smtih said.
